“To The Great Fallen” Prose by Martin Anton Smith

Thanks to the great ANZACS, and the allies, the former enemies, and all the fallen, and all the battle scared and the battle scarred. For it is they who remind us what sacrifice, at its fullest, actually is. I will endeavor to remember what you taught us, courage, sacrifice, and expert learning of your craft, standing up to bullies and mateship. I, like all in peacetime, Am ridiculously lucky to live in the sphere of times of freedom, to be able to be foolish and enjoy general peacetime interests, that realm you all created, for all of us. May your courage be drawn upon, as troubled times now beckon. To those on the other side, you also have shown equal courage, not less because of the final outcome. We will remember them.
