“An Ode to the Self Employed” (A Poem)

by Anton Martin Smith antonmartinsmithwrites@gmail.com

On a public holiday the self-employed people laugh.

We all know why.

‘Twas ‘Otago Anniversary’ & I worked.

That’s what everyone else was doing in Otago 180 years ago.

It’s only fitting.

Taking a day off is like anti-celebrating it.

Though most are not as tough as me, I do agree.
