“A Short Poem About NZ” (A Poem)

by Anton Martin Smith antonmartinsmithwrites@gmail.com

New Zealand:

Both A ‘Beautiful Place’,

And a ‘Failed State’.

I would find that all very amusing,

If only I didn’t live here.

Oh well – I guess I shouldn’t complain.

I mean it is largely a ‘Gentile Form Of Poverty’.

As we all wake all up each morning from underneath our various bridges, gutters & alleyways –

Cold, wet and saddled with delirium as is characteristic of the early stages of pneumonia –

We all take a deep breath & then shout out loud:

“Oooh the crisp clean Mountainous air! ain’t I lucky to be alive in New Zealand!”
