‘Barry the Worm’ was sad & lonely.

He had burrowed three perfect clockwise circuits of the red delicious apple & had still not met a lady worm.

‘Sue the Worm’ was also lonely & had done the same thing anticlockwise on the lower hemisphere of the Apple.

Sometimes you need to zig-zag.

They worked at the foundry.

She had started her first day of work – he had been there for 7 years & was a journeyman.

As the HR lady showed her the Iron Pouring Shed, she saw him & he saw her.

Their eyes locked as they both looked through the gap between the two giant slag piles.
